Your Thesis Deposit

The end of the road

If you have achieved two consecutive positive follow-up reports and have concluded that you have finished your thesis, you can take the next step to be able to present and defend it.

Steps to follow

If your first enrolment at the ESDULE took place during the 2017-2018 academic year and after, the rules for the presentation and defence of the doctoral thesis contained in the Regulations for the defence of the doctoral thesis at the University of León  will be applicable.

WHAT SHOULD THESES BE FORMALY LIKE?

FORMAL ELEMENTS THAT SHOULD CONSTITUTE YOUR THESIS

The thesis must include a table of contents, introduction, bibliographical review, a body made up of clearly differentiated chapters, summary, conclusions and bibliography. The main body of the thesis must be single-authored and cannot be an aggregation of scientific publications, regardless of whether these can be added as appendices.

The Cover page must contain the information indicated here. If you wish to publish your doctoral thesis under a copyright licence (Creative Commons), you can indicate this in the bottom left-hand side of the thesis.

The doctoral thesis may be written and, where appropriate, defended in the usual languages for scientific communication in the field of knowledge. If the thesis is written in another language, it must include a summary in Spanish, which must be at least 25 pages long, of the chapters or previous publications, as well as the table of contents and conclusions.

In general, doctoral students may freely use any official logo of the University of León in the writing of the thesis report, as provided for in the Corporate Identity Manual.

BEFORE STARTING PROCEEDINGS

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE AWARE OF?

Find out from your supervisor or the coordinator of the doctoral programme whether your doctoral programme has specific regulations on the presentation of the thesis.

If your thesis is a compendium of publications, you must check that you have all the necessary articles and that they are published in journals with certain characteristics of impact and quality. The requirements may change depending on the programme you belong to.

In the case of co-supervised theses, you must take into account the procedure of the other university and check that the agreement is valid.

If the thesis is to be protected by confidentiality (confidentiality declaration), you need to consult the procedure.
